"Personal Viewpoint" by Louise Morgan
"My work can essentially be described as Romantic landscapes with abstract impressionistic tendencies. I have an idea. It builds and evolves in my mind over time until I am compelled to create; to commit it to canvas. When I am working, I become part of the painting and oblivious to my surroundings; I don't hear or see anyone else; it's just the artist and the painting. I create very large pieces of work and try to portray a sense of emotion within each piece. My work largely relates to solitude and the restorative process of spending time alone. It is not about being lonely but about being alone. Sometimes the emotions that come to the fore are peaceful and relaxing; sometimes they are angry and turbulent. When spending time alone, you don't always sit quietly and admire the view. The need to be alone outweighs the actual place. Sometimes there is a need to burn energy; to walk or run. Sometimes when you have a problem, in order to arrive at a solution, the route may involve frenetic thought processes as you frantically search for ways to solve your problems. The expression of these emotions in my work is recuperative and therapeutic. The landscapes I create are a culmination of many images; a mixture of real and imagined locations; the sensations of a place rather than the actual place.
I am in my second year at Coventry University studying Fine Art."
